Islamic Ruling About Wudhu Socks

The waterproof wudhu socks of Get Dressed has been officially certified by multiple, renowned Islamic institutions, for masah (wiping over socks). According to the majority of Islamic scholars, not all socks can be used for masah (wiping over socks) during ablution. Socks that fulfil a certain number of requirements can be used to do so. These requirements as outlined by these scholars are:

  • The socks must prevent water from passing through them easily. In other words, the socks must be able to hold out water for a certain period of time.
  • The socks must be durable enough that if one walks in them, without shoes, for a certain length (around 3 miles), the socks should not tear or slip down the legs beneath the ankles.
  • The socks, without support, must be able to retain their shape alone.

Keeping all of these requirements in mind, a lot of thought and effort went into making The Wudhu Socks. We wanted our socks to be durable, functional, and comfortable, while allowing Muslims to perform masah (wiping) over them with ease. Alhamdulillah, after multiple attempts, variations, and tweaking we were able to create socks that not only fulfilled the requirements outlined above, but were able to keep comfort, durability, and style at the heart of our design. The Wudhu Socks have been created by Muslims for Muslims, for every occasion.
